CBC Laboratories

CBC Laboratories S.A. is part of Cord Blood Center group.

It is the first laboratory in Romania to process placental blood and the first stem cell bank in Romania, that was opened in Cluj, on July 2008.

Nine months later, in March 2009, CBC Laboratories S.A. has opened the first stem cell bank in Bucharest, on a space going over 600 sqm.

The experience gained helped us to build and equip the best places for reception and screening of samples, sterile rooms in which the proper placental blood processing takes place, cryogenic rooms and storage facilities, with materials and specific equipment of high performance.

In laboratory the placental blood is assessed in terms of quality (cell viability and bacterial sterility / mycological) and quantity (volume of blood collected and number of cells).

Storage graft transplant is performed according to European standards in storage Wesel liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -196 degrees Celsius, located in Romania (Cluj and Bucharest) and Slovakia.

CREDENTIALS
•    Laboratories follow the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and EU directives in this field.
•    We are authorized and supervised by the Romanian Ministry of Health, the National Transplant Agency, Public Health Agency and Romanian College of Phisicians.

ADVANCED EQUIPMENT
•    Buildings and facilities allow daily processing of a significant number of samples, so the interval between harvest time and the time when the sample acquires the processing is optimal.
•    Working procedures are subject to strict standard operational procedures.  This translates to higher quality and viability of the grafts obtained.

SAFETY AND QUALITY
•    The safety of grafts comes always first. Thus, all equipment is connected to large electrical generators to ensure independence of the public network to provide electricity in case of damage or trouble. The liquid nitrogen tanks cover the entire quantity necessary for a permanent supply of the preservation tanks.
•    The two laboratories are continuously monitored by remote video monitoring systems, access is permanently controlled internal, but also by security and protection companies.
•    Placental blood is processed and stored INTEGRAL, because it is the best way which can ensure the preservation of the largest number of nucleated cells harvested sample. By reducing the volume and cell separation (other processing equipment) there is the possibility of cell loss between 10-20%.
CBC Laboratories provide an increasing importance to customer interest and stores all the placental blood harvested.

QUALIFIED STAFF
•    The laboratory operates with a team of specialists with experience in cord blood banking from Cluj, Bucharest and Bratislava.
•    They constantly participate at training courses and professional exchanges between laboratories in Romania and Slovakia.
